They reduce the carbonate hardness of drinking water significantly thus reducing the risk of formation of calcareous deposits in the connected terminal. They also bind to metal ions such as lead or copper. The filter reduces interfering substances the taste and aroma (e.g. chlorine residues), both in filtered water, and in water from the bypass.
